Sargent Steam
Wash windows, screens, window tracks and blinds
Old Way
Time allotted: 1 hour per window.
Tools needed: Ladder, spray window cleaner, bucket of soapy water, rubber gloves, and paper towels. (Do this on a sunny day)
Wash both sides of storm windows and regular windows with a spray window cleaner and paper towels. Make sure you get all the streaks off inside and out.
Remove screens, take them to the lawn, and immerse in a solution of all- purpose cleaner and water (or wiping with moist cloth dipped in solution). Scrub both sides. Hose them off and let dry in the sun. Put them all back in place.
Window tracks need loose dirt vacuumed out first. Use a toothbrush or toothpick to dig the dirt out of the crevices. Soak up as much of the dirt as you can get out with a moist paper towel. Be sure you wear gloves, this is a nasty job.
Remove vinyl mini blinds and soak them in the bathtub in soapy water. Scrub both sides of each slat. Rinse with the shower nozzle and hang them over the shower curtain rod to dry. Put them back in place. Plantation shutters will need to be wiped down with a damp cloth inside and out or call a professional blind cleaning service.
There is an alternative >
New Way
Time allotted: 10 minutes per window.
Tools needed: Sargent Steam cleaner, paper towels, and a micro-fiber cloth.
Squeegee windows from top to bottom effectively washing rinsing and drying completely streak-free in one motion. Catch any excess moisture with a micro-fiber cloth.
Leave screens in place, use triangle brush wrapped with a cloth and clean from top to bottom.
Blast out all the dirt, dead flies and weathered-on grime from the crevices in the window track with the steam nozzle. Catch it in a paper towel.
Leave the blinds in place in the windows. Close the blind and swipe across the slats with the triangle brush wrapped with a cloth. Rotate the angle of the slats and swipe the other side.
